pretty

I am the first to admit that boxing is no pretty sport...
But it gets you fit!

hitting hard

I had an email in my inbox this morning that said: I think you punch pretty hard!!
I gave my opponent a black eye last night during our sparring training...

It's with mixed feelings I look at this picture. One feeling is a bad guilty feeling, while the other feeling is a proud damn-I'm-actually-pretty-good feeling.

But I also know that next time it will most likely be me that has an eye looking like that...

semla

After training you need to refill your energy level...
So after a plate with Moroccan Chicken and couscous I decided to go Swedish and finish it off with a semla!! Yum.

With the right contacts in HK you can get anything you want.. And I want suddenly wanted a semla desperately! (So desperately that I bought two! One for now and one for later...)

And for you that don't know: A semla consists of a cardamon-spiced wheat bun which has its top cut off and insides scooped out, and is then filled with a mix of the scooped-out bread crumbs, milk and almond paste, topped with whipped cream. The cut-off top serves as a lid and is dusted with powdered sugar.

training

Feeling better again and back in training. But my god it's tough. So tired afterwards that I had a hard time walking home tonight after what they called a fitness test session... But it's all good!

health issues

As much as I love HK, there is one thing about this town that I really don’t like at all, and that is what it does to my health.

I get sick all the time, which is truly annoying. I mean come on, give me a break. I thought it was enough with the pneumonia, but apparently my sickness-curse does not agree… So a week has passed with me doing nothing, working yes, but apart from that, nothing, except sitting on my ass, drinking lots of green tea that I mix with fresh ginger, lemon and honey. Ok, I feel better now, but not fight for fight, which is very worrying, since that’s what I need to be… literally…

Just over a month now until the big fight. And if this is persistent I don’t know how that fight will go. Well that’s a lie isn’t it? The answer to that is easy… I’ll most likely lose. But I don’t want to lose! And I definitely don’t want to be sick.

So as I take another sip of my “healing” green tea, I dream of a knock out. A knock out of my opponent in the ring and a knock out of this bug, so I wake up tomorrow and feel fine.

And if I get to make one more wish it is that if/when Kris and I have kids, may they inherit their dad’s immune system, not mine.

whoop ass

Some of you already know this, some of you don’t, but I am going to fight for Charity.

I mean really fight, as in hitting someone else and getting hit back…!
Regardless if I end up with a crooked nose or not, this is nothing but a win win situation - I get fit, it's fun and it makes me feel good, since it's for a good cause.

If you want to feel good too, let me know, and I will write you down for a donation.

in the air

Spring is in the air here in HK today (I can even smell it!). A beautiful sunny day, wish I was out there...

An other thing are in the air too, well at least in the cyber space somewhere... Check this out! http://asia.businesstraveller.com/asia-pacific/news/slugging-it-out-for-cambodias-kids

beautiful holidays

My first days of the Ox year have been just beautiful.
Happy days on the Sunshine Coast of Australia and on other places as well.

After our first beautiful day in Brisbane we headed down to Kris' parents where we spent a couple of beautiful lazy days.

Then we left for Mt Tamborine, a beautiful green plateau positioned directly west from Surfers Paradise. The mountain is known for its wineries and its beauty, so Kris concentrated on trying lots of wines and I concentrated on breathing the fresh air as much as I possibly could (since fresh air like that is so rare here in HK). We stayed the night in a cute little cottage and sat in front of the fire as we listened to rain pouring down outside.

The day after that we headed to the Sunshine Coast, where an other couple of lazy days waited. However the laziness did include two games of tennis (the first ones in my life!) two very short sessions at the gym and some swimming in the pool as well as a boat ride on Mooloolaba River, so we were not too lazy after all.

A great time was had anyway.
And as expected, it was very hard to leave Kris' warm beautiful embrace this morning... I want more beautiful holidays.
